Former WWE champion has three-word reaction to Giulia's NXT TV debut
Giulia's WWE debut garnered a mixed reception from the wrestling world. The company used the always reliable and resilient Chelsea Green as bait for the former Stardom star to hit the latter's big move on before confronting NXT Women's Champion Roxxane Perez on last week's show.
The moment Giulia hit Green with a knee was captured on camera and shared on social media, much to the chagrin of the former WWE Women's Tag Team Champion.
Taking to X/Twitter, the 33-year-old demanded the company to remove the significant moment. The image was shared along with this week's NXT card, which includes Giulia's WWE in-ring debut against Chelsea Green:
"Delete this photo!!!!" Chelsea wrote.
Hall of Famer Bully Ray was not enthused with Chelsea Green's involvement in the Japanese star's debut on NXT TV. On the Busted Open podcast following the show, the veteran, who is a big supporter of Green, felt that because the latter is too good a professional wrestler with a great character, it did not make sense that higher-ups would consider using her while introducing a promising talent like Giulia.
Nic Nemeth claims WWE did Giulia no favors with how she was introduced to its viewers
Also speaking on the Busted Open podcast was Nic Nemeth. Along with AEW's Thunder Rosa, Nemeth felt that Giulia's first appearance for World Wrestling Entertainment probably deserved a better reaction from fans.
At the same time, the TNA World Champion noted that followers of the WWE product are not very well averse to independent wrestling, unlike AEW fans. So naturally, the NXT crowd's reaction was understandable. However, the 44-year-old also pointed to how those within the company view Giulia, based on his understanding:
"In this case, it's a very non-WWE thing to do," Nemeth said. "Don't take this the wrong way, [but] it's something that AEW might do. But also, I feel like if we did the data set for the AEW crowd, a quarter of that crowd is watching New Japan and everything else. And if you take that NXT crowd or [those] WWE fans, they have no idea who that is. [...] She's presented as a star, but it was a little underwhelming. She looks the part. She looks amazing. I've seen her work [and] I'm blown away, but they did her no favors." [H/T: Wrestling Inc]
Now that her debut is out of the way, Giulia's success in the sports entertainment giant depends on how she is booked and the creative that comes with it. She will step into the ring against Chelsea Green tonight.
