Former WWE star hints at coming back after 8 years for Goldberg’s final match in 2025
WWE legend Goldberg recently announced that he will be competing in his final match in 2025. Not long after this announcement, a former star has hinted at returning to the Stamford-based promotion after eight years. The name in question, Ryback, is also rallying for support from fans for his comeback.
Ryback was released from WWE in August 2016 due to a contract dispute. Following his departure, he worked on the independent circuit for around a year.
The former Intercontinental Champion recently took to X/Twitter and posted an image of him in the ring with Goldberg. The Big Guy also asked his fans to give him reasons to make a comeback and fight the Hall of Famer.
“Tell me why I should come back for this match?” he wrote.
Although Ryback seems to be interested in returning to WWE to fight the former Universal Champion in his last match, the chances of him returning, as well as getting picked, are very slim. However, the legend already seems to have eyes on the man he would like to face in his final match.
Goldberg may settle his score with Gunther before WWE exit
WWE World Heavyweight Champion Gunther is notorious for getting under the skin of other wrestlers. The Ring General had recently disrespected Bret Hart in front of his home crowd in Calgary, Alberta. Gunther showered fake praises on The Hitman before saying he was his second favorite after Goldberg.
Notably, both Hall of Famers have a real-life beef, and it was a low blow to Hart from Gunther. However, his statement didn’t mean allegiance to the former Universal Champion either, and he disrespected Goldberg when he was in attendance at the Bad Blood Premium Live Event.
He even crossed a line and told his son, Gage, that he hoped his dad was at least a good father since he wasn’t a good enough pro wrestler. The Ring General even provoked the legend to enter the ring and fight with him.
However, interference from Sami Zayn changed the course of what could have been a brawl between the legend and Gunther back in Atlanta.
It will be interesting to see if the Hall of Famer settles his score in the final match of his career against the World Heavyweight Champion.
