Former WWE star leaves TNA after crushing loss in title match
Former WWE star Kushida faced Moose for the TNA X-Division Championship at the recently concluded 2024 Final Resolution pay-per-view. Despite a valiant effort by Kushida, it was not meant to be as Moose delivered a devastating Spear to secure the victory.
According to a recent report from PWInsider, the 41-year-old Japanese star has officially finished up with TNA following Final Resolution and the subsequent TV tapings in Atlanta, Georgia. Kushida signed a dual deal with TNA and New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) in December 2023. This was intended to be the first of many similar agreements, theoretically allowing stars to compete in both promotions moving forward.
However, the report states that this initiative quietly ended after former TNA President Scott D'Amore departed the company earlier this year. Kushida will now primarily focus on NJPW. Despite his TNA contract coming to an end, he is said to have left the company on good terms, leaving the door open for potential future appearances.
Nic Nemeth defeated another former WWE star at TNA Final Resolution
Nic Nemeth, popularly known to WWE fans as Dolph Ziggler, was in action at the 2024 Final Resolution, where he defended the TNA World Championship against "Top Dolla" AJ Francis.
Frankie Kazarian joined the commentary team during the match, teasing a potential cash-in of his 'Call Your Shot' trophy. Nemeth started strong, unleashing a flurry of offense, but KC Navarro caused a distraction that allowed Top Dolla to take control. Fortunately, the referee caught this and ejected Navarro from ringside.
Nemeth faced serious trouble when Top Dolla hit a devastating chokeslam, but the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion showed his veteran instincts, rolling under the ropes to avoid the pinfall. On a subsequent chokeslam attempt, Nemeth countered with a Famouser, followed by a Superkick and his signature Danger Zone to secure the victory and retain the TNA World Championship.
It remains to be seen what lies ahead for Nic Nemeth as his reign continues.
