Former WWE star once stiffed Vince McMahon in the ring (Exclusive)
Vince McMahon took some huge bumps during his WWE career. He famously (or infamously) landed back-first on the announce table during his Steel Cage Match against Stone Cold Steve Austin at St. Valentine's Day Massacre. It is safe to say that wasn't the only time McMahon got stiffed.
Former WWE star Hornswoggle recently told a story of how Fit Finlay actually stiffed Vince McMahon with the shillelagh. Speaking on What Were They Thinking? podcast, the real-life Dylan Mark said the mark on Vince's head from taking the hit looked like something out of old Looney Tunes cartoons.
"I remember the night he had to hit Vince with it during the storyline. And Vince is like, 'You're not gonna hit me with that, you're not gonna actually swing. We get to the back, and it was literally like the Roadrunner and the Coyote thing where you could see the thing grow on Vince's head. And he laughs and goes,'You got me, you b*stard.'" Earlier on the podcast, Gerald Brisco asked how stiff Finlay was with the use of the shillelagh, to which both Hornswoggle and JBL said it depended on whether he liked the person on the receiving end of the weapon.
"Fit would do like a worked shillelagh, and he looked like he killed you and he didn't even touch you. Fit was a great worker... tough, tough guy. But then if he wanted to mess with you, he would just barely tap you (on the head), pow!" stated JBL. [From 37:42 onwards]
WWE brought back the shillelagh during Sheamus' feud with Drew McIntyre. Most recently, the company incorporated the object into the Celtic Warrior's storyline with Pete Dunne. It remains to be seen if fans will see the iconic weapon used once again on TV.
