Former WWE star wonders if Bray Wyatt held a grudge against him
Bray Wyatt's passing in August 2023 shocked the WWE Universe, and everybody mourned the painful loss. Early on, nobody could have anticipated Wyatt's career trajectory would reach the level it did.
In the fall of 2010, Bray and former WWE Superstar Curtis Axel joined The Nexus. They jumped John Cena at that year's Hell in a Cell pay-per-view, assisting Wade Barrett to victory. At the time, Wyatt wrestled under the ringname Husky Harris, and Axel was Michael McGillicutty.
In an interview with Monte & The Pharaoh, Curtis Axel wondered if WWE's decision to send Bray Wyatt back to development made Wyatt resent him. However, the former IC Champion added that it was the best thing to happen for the late wrestler, who returned to the main roster in 2013 as The Wyatt Family's cult leader:
"I don’t know if he ever had a grudge against me for staying while he was sent down, but honestly, that was the best decision for him. He was green at the time and not ready for the main roster—not as Husky Harris and all that," Curtis Axel said. [H/T: WrestleZone]
Since donning the role of Bray Wyatt, he never looked back. Wyatt went on to win the top prize of the company on three separate occasions. As for Curtis Axel, despite a strong run initially as a Paul Heyman Guy, it did not propel him to main event status. Axel was released in April 2020.
The Wyatt Sicks suffer their first loss on WWE RAW
In June 2024, The Wyatt Sicks debuted on Monday Night RAW. The group was formed by Bray's real-life brother, who portrays Uncle Howdy on-screen, as a tribute to the late WWE Superstar.
This past Monday, they suffered their first loss after a dominant run thus far. The Wyatt Sicks were defeated by The Final Testament after the latter group's manager, Paul Ellering, returned and cost The Wyatt Sicks the match. Ellering was last seen in October after Uncle Howdy locked him in the Mandible Claw.
Karrion Kross handed Uncle Howdy his first pinfall loss, after the two factions feuded for over a month. It remains to be seen how The Wyatt Sicks retaliate.
