Former WWE Superstar reveals why Vince McMahon would book talent to lose in their hometown
A former WWE Superstar shared why Vince McMahon would have stars lose in their hometowns. The 78-year-old resigned from the promotion earlier this year following allegations from former WWE employee Janel Grant.
Wrestling veteran Matt Hardy recently discussed Vince McMahon on his The Extreme Life podcast. The 49-year-old commented on McMahon booking wrestlers to lose in their hometown and claimed the former CEO thought it was going to get good heat from the crowd in attendance.
"I think he [Vince McMahon] felt like it was going to get good heat, and I think in his mind he justified like, 'I can get heat on an individual by taking advantage of the hometown star. And then, I'll use this heat to build them into something bigger,'" he said. [H/T: Wrestling Inc]
Matt Hardy added that Vince McMahon also enjoyed embarrassing stars in their hometown, particularly Jim Ross. The Hardy Boyz spent some time in All Elite Wrestling, but their time in the promotion came to an end earlier this year.
WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long on why he did everything Vince McMahon asked of him
Wrestling legend Teddy Long recently commented on his philosophy of never saying no to Vince McMahon when he asked him to do something.
Speaking on Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Time Machine podcast, Long was asked if there was ever a time when he refused to do something asked of him. The veteran shared that he would never have done that because his philosophy was that if he didn't do it, McMahon would.
"Well, no, you couldn't have done that. You already know it's not real. So why would you say you'll not do it. In my philosophy, I always told you - I always did what was asked of me because if I didn't, Vince [McMahon] would do it." [From 04:06 to 04:28]
