Former WWE World Heavyweight Champion officially confirms he will never wrestle again 5 years after his last WrestleMania match
Very few wrestlers have stayed true to their retirement. However, former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Kurt Angle recently confirmed that he would never don his wrestling boots again.
The Olympic gold medalist brought the curtain down on his storied career in April 2019 at WrestleMania 35, where he put Baron Corbin over in a singles match. Kurt Angle faced several handpicked opponents during his farewell tour, leading up to his swansong at The Show of Shows.
Similarly, John Cena will embark on a Retirement Tour in 2025 before officially calling it quits.
In the latest episode of the Notsam Wrestling podcast, Kurt Angle was asked by Sam Roberts about the possibility of him coming out of retirement to face John Cena next year.
The WWE Hall of Famer said as much as he would love to make it happen, he's in no physical condition to take bumps.
"Listen, I'm sure if I made a call, I could make it happen. But there's no way I can do it. But I would love to, you know, be one of John Cena's retirement matches," Angle said. [47:13-47:25]
The 55-year-old legend reiterated that he wanted The Cenation Leader to be his final WWE opponent, but Vince McMahon had other plans for him at the time.
"I mean, I'm the one [with whom] he had his first match. I wanted John [Cena] to be my retirement match. I don't know if you knew that, but I requested that to Vince [McMahon]. 'You're gonna have to wait till next year because you have a program with Baron Corbin.' So I was like, 'Okay! I don't think I can go another year, Vince!' He said, Well, then it is what it is!'" he added. [47:25-47:45]

Kurt Angle is interested in WWE return but on one condition
During a virtual signing with K&S WrestleFest, Kurt Angle said that he would be open to the idea of managing Chad Gable and his faction American Made if the offer presented was right.
"If the money was right [I would come back to manage a faction]. The spot [matters too], yeah, definitely. I think Chad [Gable] and his gang that he has right now—that would be a great idea. I wouldn’t mind doing a spot here and there. But if you’re gonna ask me to do a wrestling match, it’s just not gonna happen. Yeah, I could take some bumps,” Angle said.
Gable bears an eerie resemblance to Angle due to a similar in-ring style. The two men even had a singles match back in 2019. Will WWE bring back the Olympic gold medalist to pair with the American Made leader? Only time will tell!
