Former WWE writer makes surprising prediction surrounding Rhea Ripley’s title reign

Is Rhea Ripley about to dominate Monday Night RAW as the SmackDown Women's Champion?

At WrestleMania 39, The Nightmare defeated Charlotte Flair to capture the SmackDown Women's Championship. Ripley earned the title match by winning the Women's Royal Rumble earlier this year.

It certainly appears that Ripley is being positioned to have a long run at the top of the company. On the latest episode of Wrestling With Freddie, the former WWE writer made an interesting prediction where he stated that he believes the current SmackDown Women's Champion Rhea Ripley will hold that championship for at least the next year.

"Rhea Ripley is a killer," Freddie Prinze Jr. said. "And I don't know how anybody's — I think she's gonna get a run the way Bianca's gotten a run. A plus-year title reign where everyone, every single storyline is to make at the end of the day Rhea look even more credible."

Could we get a match between Rhea Ripley and Ronda Rousey at some point in 2023?

While Rhea Ripley went on to defeat Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 39, that wasn't the original plan.

Ripley was initially penciled in to face off with Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania 39, but creative plans changed. Rousey dropped the title to Flair in shocking fashion on an episode of SmackDown at the end of 2022.

But with Rousey being moved over to Monday Night RAW in the Draft, it creates an opportunity to get the match between Ripley and Rousey at some point in 2023. This is a notion that Freddie Prinze Jr. agrees with.

"And then eventually, I guess they still love Ronda, so when Ronda Rousey gets healthy, then they'll probably do something with the two of them," Freddie Prinze Jr. said. [H/T: Wrestling Inc.]
