Goldberg credits legendary WWE Hall of Famer for teaching him wrestling basics
Goldberg was last seen in WWE two years ago at a Saudi Arabia show wrestling Roman Reigns. He made headlines on numerous occasions ever since, most famously when he opened up about Vince McMahon not following up on a promise made to him: a retirement match.
While his return to the Stamford-based promotion bears watching, Goldberg recently took the opportunity to credit late WWE Superstar Eddie Guerrero for the latter's kindness when the former Universal Champion was starting out.
Speaking on the Alamo City Podcast, he outright admitted that the Guerrero family had a huge impact on him. Along with Eddie, he also revealed that his brother, Chavo Guerrero was always good to him and that he had nothing but fond memories of his interaction with the family.
"That Guerrero family had such a huge impact on me when I was coming up. They would take the time, unlike others, who felt threatened, they would take the time to make sure I knew the basics. Whether it was Eddie or Chavo. Chavo was great with me. The entire family, I have nothing but found memories with all of our interactions," admitted Goldberg.
According to Da Man, most people in the industry have ulterior motives. However, the Guerrero family was different and they only helped him to get better than he was when he first arrived on the wrestling scene. He graciously thanked the family with all his heart.
"In this day and age, a lot of people have ulterior motives. That family never had an ulterior motive, just an effort to make you better than you were before. That, you have to take your hat off to and cover your heart for, and you have to be appreciative that you run into people with such good character," Goldberg said.
Eddie Guerrero and Goldberg never wrestled in WWE, but Chavo Guerrero got to step into the ring with the former Universal Champion. Eddie was the subject of WWE Legends: A&E Biography this week.
Goldberg does not wish to add fuel to the fire regarding WWE co-founder's recent scandal
Vince McMahon was hit with a lawsuit by Janel Grant in January, and the former WWE Chairman was forced to retire once again. Earlier this month, his lawyers responded with a 'Statement of Material Facts,' that is undisputed in nature. It was done in support of his motion to compel arbitration and to prove he reserves the right to introduce additional evidence in the legal proceedings.
Several major names in the pro wrestling industry have shared their opinions on the ongoing lawsuit, but Goldberg had no intention of adding fuel to the fire by commenting on the scandal. Especially, because he was never a witness to anything related to the lawsuit filed by the former WWE employee.
"Everybody has an opinion, and again, it’s kind of like me asking you how you felt about your head coaches throughout the years, about your general managers throughout the years. It’s not fair for anybody to give an opinion based upon their own opinion and not be run through the wringer by other people based upon what they think of that. Because they weren't there," he said.
Goldberg also said that he does not know anything about the case and when it comes to his old boss, there were good and bad times, and that was about it. He is best known for his time in both WWE and WCW.
Goldberg disclosed recently that he does not care much about a retirement match anymore as he values his time being a father, a husband, and a car show host.
