WWE News: Goldberg says winning is not important for him at Survivor Series
The countdown to the 30th edition of the Survivor Series has come down to hours now and the entire WWE Universe waits in anticipation to see two icons of the pro-wrestling world, Goldberg and Brock Lesnar, go head to head.
The match between these two superstars will be headlining one of the most popular annual pay-per-views in the WWE and it promises to be one hell of a battle. While Lesnar has already been around for almost 4 years since his return to the business, Goldberg will be competing in a WWE ring after a gap of 12 years.
In a recent interview with ESPN, ‘The Myth’ revealed that winning was not the motivation behind him agreeing to a match against ‘The Beast Incarnate’ at the Survivor Series. Instead, it is about bringing a smile to the faces of his wife and son.

“My life is not predicated upon being the winner -- it's about the journey," he said. "It's about the legacy that you leave, the impression that you leave. There are a lot of things that I have to attain.
At the end of the day, if I come away with nothing other than the smiles on my wife and son's face, I'm Santa Claus ... or Hanukkah Harry,” stated Goldberg.
The former WWE World Heavyweight champion was appreciative that the WWE gave him the opportunity to wrestle for the first time in front of his son and he feels that he might never be able to repay them. Goldberg was quoted in the ESPN interview as saying:
“As a father, you want the best for your son, quite obviously. You want to create the best memories for your son.
To be able to be given this opportunity -- originally by 2K and now by WWE -- to come back and be that guy, I could never repay them as far as my appreciation.
I'm the coolest dad in the world, and they gave me the opportunity to do that.”
Talking about the minor lapse that he suffered in the ring a few weeks back when he was trying to drive his knee into Rusev, he claimed that he let himself down as he failed to match the high standards that he always sets for himself. He said:
“When I fell on my ass on the ground, it felt like s**t. The deal is that I hold myself to an extremely high standard, and it's a standard that can never be... it's unattainable.
But it drives me to be the very best in everything I do.”
