Goldberg will win and retire top WWE championship before retiring himself immediately, feels Hall of Famer; but there's a twist to the title's future
Goldberg's return will see him defeat a World Champion and then retire the belt immediately, according to a Hall of Famer. What happens next appears to be a twist.
Sportskeeda's own Bill Apter spoke about the WCW legend's potential retirement and presented his own theory on what will happen. Apter, who is an NWA Hall of Famer, noted how he felt that Goldberg would not get easy access to Gunther and would need to go through Ludwig Kaiser at the very least. He added that he didn't see the 57-year-old losing his retirement match, so we would ultimately defeat The Ring General and immediately retire the World Heavyweight Championship.
He also predicted a twist, with Gunther only able to get the title back through a new tournament. Apter detailed his theory on Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Time Machine:
"People think it's going to be one and done as his retirement match. I don't think so, I think what's going to happen is Gunther is going to say you can't just come in here and get a title match for your retirement match. I think first he's going to have to get through Ludwig Kaiser, and maybe someone else before they put him with Gunther. I can't see him losing his retirement match. I can see him winning the title, retiring the title, and WWE has a tournament where Gunther wins the belt back again." (1:20 - 1:59)
Teddy Long didn't agree and said that he felt that Gunther would not lose the title for a retirement match. Long felt that the Austrian star would win that match.
At this point, it remains to be seen how the situation plays out when Goldberg returns.
