Gunther breaks silence following historic WWE announcement
WWE Superstar Gunther broke his silence today following a major announcement by the company. The leader of Imperium battled Cody Rhodes at Crown Jewel 2024 this past Saturday night in Saudi Arabia.
During this week's edition of RAW, it was announced that the company will have a major tour in Europe ahead of WrestleMania 41 next year in Las Vegas. The World Heavyweight Champion took to social media to share a one-word reaction to the company's historic announcement.
"Historisch," he wrote.
Cody Rhodes defeated the 37-year-old at the premium live event over the weekend to capture the Crown Jewel Championship. Damian Priest won a Fatal Four-Way Match on this past Monday's episode of WWE RAW to become the number one contender for the World Heavyweight Championship.
Gunther defeated The Archer of Infamy to capture the title at SummerSlam earlier this year after The Judgment Day's Finn Balor interfered in the match. Priest now has an opportunity to win back the championship from The Ring General.
WWE analyst reacts to Gunther's loss at Crown Jewel
Wrestling personality Sam Roberts recently discussed Gunther's loss to Cody Rhodes at Crown Jewel and revealed why it might be a good thing for the Imperium star's career.
Speaking on his Notsam Wrestling podcast, Roberts suggested that the loss was necessary for the World Heavyweight Champion in Saudi Arabia. He noted that fans would lose interest in watching his matches moving forward if the champion became unbeatable.
"What I would almost love to see happen is this vibe where maybe on Monday Night RAW, people are like, ‘Oh, we saw you lose to Cody. We know you're beatable, now we can beat you.’ Because there is that too, right? That if Gunther becomes too unbeatable, if it just is assumed he will always beat everybody, the matches become less compelling eventually," said the analyst. [11:50 onwards]

Damian Priest was moments away from retaining the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam before Finn Balor betrayed him. Only time will tell if the 42-year-old can recapture the title in the weeks ahead on WWE television.
