Gunther claims he took major WWE star "back to reality" at SNME
Gunther shared a bold message following his impressive victory last night at WWE Saturday Night's Main Event. The Ring General defended his World Heavyweight Championship against Finn Balor and Damian Priest in a Triple Threat match.
The leader of Imperium appeared to lose his confidence heading into Saturday Night's Main Event, but he showcased his true dominance during the World Heavyweight Championship match last night.
The Austrian star hit Priest with a Powerbomb on top of the steel steps and delivered another Powerbomb to Finn Balor for the pinfall victory. Following his successful title defense, the champion noted that it was time for Balor to go back to reality and shared a video of the match's finish, as seen in his post below:
"Back to Reality!" he wrote.
Finn Balor cost Damian Priest the World Heavyweight Championship during his match against Gunther at SummerSlam earlier this year. Balor also interfered in Priest's title match against the 37-year-old last month at Survivor Series: WarGames.
Bill Apter names Gunther as the most impactful WWE star of 2024
Legendary wrestling journalist Bill Apter recently praised Gunther and noted that he made a big impression on him this year.
Speaking on Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Time Machine podcast, Apter was asked to name the best male WWE Superstar of the year. The legend noted that it was difficult for him to decide before naming the World Heavyweight Champion as the star who impressed him the most.
"That's a hard thing to say the best. I think the person that made the biggest impression on WWE coming from somewhere where you know... Would have to be Gunther. I mean, who saw that coming that he would become the World Heavyweight wrestling champion, and he carries himself like a World Heavyweight wrestling champion." [From 05:52 onwards]

Finn Balor and Damian Priest used to be stablemates in The Judgment Day but are now involved in a personal rivalry. Balor and McDonagh are set to defend the World Tag Team Championship against The War Raiders tomorrow night on WWE RAW. Only time will tell if Priest decides to get involved in the title match tomorrow night on the red brand.
