Gunther comments on Ilja Dragunov joining Imperium on WWE's main roster
Ilja Dragunov and Gunther have been fierce rivals on WWE NXT UK before the two earned their stripes in the United States. Recently, The Ring General commented on the possibility of The Mad Dragon joining Imperium.
Gunther and Ilja Dragunov are no strangers to each other, as they've battled countless times during their tenures as professional wrestlers. However, it's been a while since they've locked horns, as the two stars have been on a different path in the Stamford-based promotion.
Speaking on Gorilla Position, The Ring General was asked if he has any plans to add Ilja Dragunov to Imperium in the near future. Gunther didn't deny the idea completely and spoke highly of what The Mad Dragon could achieve in the promotion.
"I think Ilja [Dragunov] is a better enemy than a friend. Yeah, it has to come down to that. He's one of us in terms of Kaiser, Ilja, and I, we all have wrestled each other years back. So, I naturally want him to be where I am, and I think he's somebody that brings out the best in me, and I'm someone that brings out the best in him. I think before it can happen, he has his own way to go, wherever he ends up." [From 25:25 to 26:00]
Ilja Dragunov is available for the upcoming WWE Draft
A few years ago, Ilja Dragunov made his way to the United States and joined WWE's developmental brand. After a short hiatus, the star became a staple of the brand and ended up winning the NXT Championship from Carmelo Hayes.
The Mad Dragon slayed countless opponents during his run on the brand and finally lost the title to Trick Williams at NXT Spring Breakin' 2024. The loss opened a door for the star, as he's eligible for the upcoming WWE Draft.
While the star was not picked during the first night of the draft, there's a high chance that he will get drafted to either WWE RAW or WWE SmackDown during the second night of the Draft.
