Gunther fighting 13-time WWE Champion at WrestleMania would be too good to pass up, says Sam Roberts
Gunther has held the World Heavyweight Championship since WWE SummerSlam. RAW Talk host Sam Roberts recently expressed his desire to see The Ring General go head-to-head against a returning legend at WrestleMania 41.
Earlier this year, John Cena returned to announce that he would have a retirement tour in 2025. The Leader of the Cenation confirmed that WrestleMania 41 would be his final Show of Shows. He last competed at the Showcase of the Immortals in 2023 when he lost to Austin Theory. On his Notsam Wrestling podcast, Roberts revealed he wants to see the 13-time WWE Champion fight Gunther at WrestleMania next year.
The 41-year-old analyst claimed a match between The Ring General and Cena would be "too good to pass up":
"I wanna see Gunther vs. Cena. That's the match that I wanna see at 'Mania. I think that's what sold me. I mean, I really wanna see Cena vs. Gunther at WrestleMania. I just think it's too good to pass up," he said. [1:23:56 - 1:24:07]
Ex-WWE employee thinks John Cena will dethrone Gunther at WrestleMania 41
On the Behind The Turnbuckle: The Last Word podcast, former WWE employee Tommy Carlucci also disclosed that he could see John Cena challenge Gunther at WrestleMania 41.
Carlucci predicted that the 16-time world champion would dethrone The Ring General to capture his 17th title:
"I would think it'd be Gunther. If Gunther still champ, I could see Cena beating Gunther and winning it for like the 17th time and breaking the [Ric Flair's] record," he said.
Several top superstars have expressed their desire to square off against Cena before the latter hangs up his boots. It would be interesting to see if the Leader of the Cenation would share the ring with Gunther on his retirement tour.
