Gunther puts locker room on notice ahead of WWE RAW
Gunther delivered a bold warning ahead of tonight's episode of WWE RAW. This week's edition of the red brand will be the first show following WWE SummerSlam this past Saturday night in Ohio.
The Ring General squared off against The Judgment Day's Damian Priest for the World Heavyweight Championship at the Premium Live Event. The Archer of Infamy was in control of the match and went for a cover, but Finn Balor betrayed his stablemate and put Gunther's boot on the ropes to break up the pinfall attempt. The leader of Imperium capitalized on Balor's betrayal and captured the World Heavyweight Championship.
Following his victory, he was interviewed backstage by Cathy Kelley and claimed that the legacy of the World Heavyweight Championship belonged to him moving forward on RAW. He then challenged anyone in the locker room who had an issue to come and find him. You can check out the video in his Instagram post below.
"I am easy to find!" he wrote.
Vince Russo claims WWE ruined Gunther's character
Former WWE writer Vince Russo simply cannot get over Gunther losing to Sami Zayn at WrestleMania XL.
The Great Liberator dethroned the 36-year-old at The Show of Shows earlier this year, putting an end to his historic 666-day reign as Intercontinental Champion. Speaking on the latest edition of Sportskeeda Wrestling's Writing with Russo show, the veteran said Gunther was "unbelievable," but he couldn't overlook him losing to Zayn.
"Bro I am a Gunther fan, but I cannot get out of my head, this dude lost to Sami Zayn. Gunther lost to Sami Zayn, like seriously. When that happened, I am like, they just killed this guy. See, he should have wiped the floor with Sami Zayn. So, like, when you talk about Gunther, I hate to say it. I love the guy, he is unbelievable, but you don't forget things like that." The Imperium leader could be in line for an impressive reign with the World Heavyweight Championship. Only time will tell which WWE RAW star is the first to challenge him for the title in the weeks ahead.
