Gunther's title defense at Bash in Berlin could have been built up better, feels former WWE star (Exclusive)

Former WWE Superstar EC3 recently spoke about the build to Gunther defending the World Heavyweight Championship at Bash in Berlin. The champion will face Randy Orton with the title on the line.

The Viper showed up on RAW two weeks ago to confront The Ring General. He discussed their encounter at the King of the Ring Tournament final and said that Gunther hadn't beaten him clean. Orton challenged the champ for a title opportunity, offering him a chance to remove the asterisk from his previous win over the veteran; the challenge was immediately accepted.

This week on The Wrestling Outlaws, EC3 mentioned it was potentially a great match but the storyline leading up to it could have been better.

"Well, on paper, you got Gunther, you got Orton in the Deutchland. That sounds really cool, so you have your endpoint, right? Like how do you get there? There's a lot of better ways than a miscellaneous wasn't really a pin, maybe it was. Ah, just have a title match anyways," he said.

The former WWE Superstar pointed out that he only watched the premium live events for the matches and not the build. He felt it was a huge match for the German fans and the two competitors would put on a great show.

"That's why I only kinda check out the PLEs, premium live events. I don't really know the terrible stories that take place but I do wind up getting good to great matches as a result. Gunther in Germany as a champion against Randy who's probably one of the greatest in-ring of all time, that's pretty dope to me. I'm not gonna worry about the story, I'm gonna check out the match, you know, whatever," he added. [From 1:38 onwards]

Things have started heating up between Randy Orton and Gunther. This past week on RAW, the Apex Predator nailed the World Heavyweight Champion with an RKO, sending a strong message ahead of their clash.

It will be interesting to see how The Ring General fares in his first title defense after winning the World Heavyweight Championship earlier this month at SummerSlam.
