Gunther sends three-word message following major WWE RAW victory
Gunther shared a three-word message following his impressive victory in the main event of last night's edition of WWE RAW in St. Paul, Minnesota. The Ring General will be challenging Damian Priest for the World Heavyweight Championship this Saturday night at SummerSlam.
The 36-year-old earned the title match by winning the King of the Ring Tournament in May. He squared off against The Judgment Day's Finn Balor for the first time ever in the main event of last night's RAW. Gunther emerged victorious by applying a chokehold on the former Universal Champion until he passed out. After the match, Damian Priest rushed to the ring and attacked the leader of Imperium.
Gunther took to his Instagram today to send a message following his victory over Finn Balor on RAW. He shared a video clip of his win over Balor and captioned the post with "Prince vs. King." Balor was previously known as Prince Devitt before joining WWE.
Gunther has insulted Damian Priest and the entire Judgment Day faction by referring to the RAW stars as "street trash." The veteran previously held the Intercontinental Championship for 666 days before losing it to Sami Zayn at WrestleMania XL.
Vince Russo claims nobody cares about Gunther and Damian Priest's rivalry ahead of WWE SummerSlam
Former WWE writer Vince Russo claimed that fans are not invested in the rivalry between Gunther and Damian Priest on RAW.
Speaking on this week's edition of Sportskeeda Wrestling's Legion of RAW show, Russo claimed that he saw fans looking at their phones in the background during the brawl between Priest and Gunther last night. He added fans don't care about the storyline and the reaction from the crowd on RAW was an example of that.
"When they got to the very end and it was Gunther and Priest and they were fighting. What did you see? All you saw was this- [people on their phones]. That’s all you saw. They are taking pictures so they can show them to people at work tomorrow. They don’t care what’s going on. If you’re into something, you’re not on your phone because you don’t wanna miss it. That’s telling you they don’t care." [From 1:10:08 onwards]
