Sam Roberts believes WWE could book a rematch between Cody Rhodes and Gunther in the future
Sam Roberts believes WWE has kept the door open for a rematch between Cody Rhodes and Gunther. Having crossed paths in the Men's Royal Rumble in the last two years, Crown Jewel marked the first-ever singles match between the two.
On the NotSam Wrestling podcast, Roberts said that the finish to Rhodes vs. Gunther had kept the door open for another match. He stated:
"But it does, I think, leave it fairly open for the potential in the sense that, like, why was the RAW match between Gunther and Sami Zayn so important? Because Sami Zayn beat Gunther. So it's like Gunther has no blemishes except for this one. And eventually, whether it's at WrestleMania, whether it's a year from now, whether it's two years from now, because everything counts."
On this week's Monday Night RAW, Gunther's next title contender was decided, with Damian Priest set to challenge for the World Heavyweight Championship. Priest defeated Dominik Mysterio, Sheamus, and Seth Rollins in a Fatal Four-Way Match.
Meanwhile, Rhodes is expected to appear on this week's edition of SmackDown. It remains to be seen who will step up as his next challenger.
