Gunther shares 2-word message after Randy Orton’s challenge on WWE RAW
Gunther had been WWE World Heavyweight Champion for less than 48 hours when he received his first challenger. Randy Orton will be looking to secure his 21st championship reign when they lock up later this month, but Gunther is reminding the third-generation star of how tough the challenge will be.
The King General dethroned Damian Priest at SummerSlam, thanks to Finn Balor. Gunther earned the title shot by defeating The Viper in the King of the Ring finals back in May. The pinfall was controversial as Orton got his shoulder up, which was acknowledged by Triple H but not reversed due to the referee's decision. Orton confronted the former NXT UK Champion on Monday's loaded RAW and revealed that Adam Pearce booked the two in a title match at Bash in Berlin.
The Bull from Vienna took to X today to declare how great he is with just two words. Gunther shared a shot from his official championship photoshoot and gave credit to longtime WWE photographer Craig Ambrosio.
"Greatness Personified!" Gunther wrote with the photo below.
The Bash in Berlin main event will have major implications for the main roster. Pearce announced that the winner of Orton vs. Gunther will remain on RAW, while the loser will join SmackDown. Orton is currently a member of the blue brand roster, while Gunther is on the red brand.
Triple H looks ahead to Gunther's WWE future
Gunther won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship by defeating Damian Priest at the 37th annual SummerSlam on Saturday. The near-17-minute match included a shocking moment as Finn Balor turned on The Archer of Infamy.
Triple H took to X to praise Gunther for his monumental win. The Chief Content Officer congratulated the RAW Superstar and gave a hint at great things to come for the 19-year industry veteran.
"We’ve seen what @Gunther_AUTis capable of… and we’ve still barely scratched the surface. Congratulations to your NEW World Heavyweight Champion. #SummerSlam," Triple H wrote with the photo below.
Gunther previously held the NXT UK Championship for 870 recognized days, a record for the company. He also held the Intercontinental Championship for 666 recognized days, another record.
