Gunther teases surprising character change on RAW in response to loss against Cody Rhodes
Gunther has been repeatedly called WWE's biggest supervillain in recent times for comments he has made towards legends like Bret Hart and Goldberg, as well as other full-time stars. On RAW, he teased a surprising character change after losing to Cody Rhodes.
Gunther was backstage, and he was interviewed after losing to Cody Rhodes in the main event of Crown Jewel. Although the latter's quick pin gave him the Crown Jewel Championship, the Ring General admitted that The American Nightmare was the better man on the night, and that's why he won.
When speaking about the Fatal Four-Way main event to determine his new contender, the World Heavyweight Champion was slightly taken aback by Ludwig Kaiser's comments towards Sheamus, who beat him last week. When Ludwig said he would take him out, Gunther threw some shade at him, stating they both needed to do better. This was a clear tease of a character change.
Of course, we've seen teases like this before, such as the one with Bron Breakker after he lost the Intercontinental Championship to Jey Uso. However, he quickly turned back into a villain.
Kaiser's frustration came from Sheamus earning a #1 contender's match after beating him. It also appeared to be the split of a tease between the two Imperium members.
The next few months are going to be all-important.
