Gunther will challenge 225 lb top WWE Superstar at SummerSlam and not Damian Priest, says veteran
After winning the King of the Ring Tournament, Gunther has a guaranteed World Heavyweight Championship shot at WWE SummerSlam. However, a wrestling veteran believes he will not be challenging the current champion, Damian Priest.
Priest has been holding the championship since WrestleMania XL. After successfully defending it twice against Jey Uso and Drew McIntyre, he will now go head-to-head against Seth Rollins at Money in the Bank next month. Speaking on the Rebooked podcast, wrestling veteran Matthew Rehwoldt (fka Aiden English) disclosed that he believes the 225 lb former World Heavyweight Champion will dethrone The Judgment Day member at the premium live event in Toronto.
The current TNA color commentator explained that having Rollins end Priest's championship reign ahead of SummerSlam would benefit the Stamford-based company.
"I do believe the bigger match is Seth and Gunther, who has a title match at SummerSlam from King of the Ring. And I do believe that is seen as the more billboard match for a large one of the big four events like that," he said. [53:51 - 54:05]

Gunther could face another top WWE champion at Bash in Berlin if he wins at SummerSlam
Over the past two years, Gunther has been one of the biggest rising stars in WWE. He held the Intercontinental Championship for a record-high 666 days. Many now expect the leader of Imperium to capture the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam in August.
On his The Wrestling Matt podcast, former WWE host, Matt Camp, suggested that the United States Champion, Logan Paul challenge Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship at Bash in Berlin if the latter walks out of SummerSlam as World Champion.
"Forget the U.S. Title, let's set that up for the World Title. Logan Paul versus Gunther, I kinda wanna see that now, not for the U.S. Title, make it bigger. Gunther [vs] Logan Paul at Bash in Berlin? Oh, now I'm intrigued. Now, I kinda like this idea. I know a lot would have to happen but I think there's something to that," he said.
WWE Hall of Famer The Undertaker predicted that The Ring General would become a multi-time world champion in the Stamford-based company. It would be interesting to see if he would capture his first world title at The Biggest Party of the Summer this year.
