"He had no choice" - 38-year-old star defends Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes' alliance with Roman Reigns
Cody Rhodes' alliance with Roman Reigns in WWE didn't sit well with Kevin Owens on Friday Night SmackDown. Recently, AEW star Thunder Rosa defended The American Nightmare's choice of teaming up with the Original Tribal Chief.
Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes is the face of the organization as it entered the "Renaissance Era," a term coined by The American Nightmare, under Triple H's creative leadership. As the company's face, he has a lot of responsibilities, both inside and outside the ring, and Thunder Rosa believes Rhodes and Reigns didn't just team up for fun.
Speaking on the Busted Open, the former AEW Women's World Champion said that she believes as the promotion's golden boy The American Nightmare had "no choice" but to team up with the Original Tribal Chief to take on a bigger evil. She also stated that one has to team up with different people at work for certain career opportunities to attain bigger goals, and wrestling was only one such job.
"You guys don't think about the work opportunities that you'll miss if you don't team with certain people at certain jobs. Wrestling is one of them. I see this all the time. It has happened to me. [...] In the case of Cody Rhodes, he had to do what he had to do as the golden boy. He had no choice but to work with certain people. [...] He has to work with the top people at a certain time to fight evil. It has happened everywhere," she said. [From 09:30 to 10:19]
Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes won at WWE Bad Blood 2024
Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns' mega-alliance went head-on against The Bloodline's Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu in Atlanta at WWE Bad Blood. The two megastars eventually won the match when Jimmy Uso came to save the day against Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa.
The night ended with The Rock's return, which hasn't led anywhere yet, as The Final Boss has not been seen since. However, after the PLE, Kevin Owens snapped at Cody Rhodes and turned on him for his alliance with Roman Reigns. He attacked The American Nightmare in the parking lot.
Later, Rhodes and Owens' feud intensified when The Prizefighter dropped Randy Orton on his head with a Piledriver, ruling out The Viper for an indefinite period. The two superstars will now face each other for the Undisputed WWE Championship at Saturday Night's Main Event on December 14.
