"He deserves it" - Former WWE star gets emotional about Jey Uso's Intercontinental Championship win (Exclusive)
Former WWE star Afa Anoa'i Jr. recently spoke about Jey Uso winning the Intercontinental Championship. The star defeated Bron Breakker on RAW this past Monday.
Jey put on an inspirational performance against Bron. Despite taking some beating at the beginning of the match, Uso came back strongly to hit a Spear on the outside. He then nailed another Spear, followed by the Uso Splash on Breakker for the win.
During an episode of Enter the Bloodline, Anoa'i mentioned that it was a special moment to see Jey Uso win the title. He pointed out that it was a historic win for the star because his father, Rikishi, had also won the same title back in the day. He detailed that Jey had been working very hard and deserved all the success he was getting on the main roster.
"I love it. Any time that we get a singles title like that, it's special. I remember being with them when their father won it. The excitement of everything that goes on and the attention that comes along with being a singles champion. He's been working hard for it. He deserves it. And what a match right? You see the pop at the end." [From 18:18 onwards]
With this win, Jey Uso now holds a singles title for the first time in his career. All his other title reigns have been with the tag team championships.
It will be interesting to see how WWE books Jey Uso's title run in the coming weeks and what happens next to Bron Breakker.
