High-profile star declares unfinished business in WWE after SummerSlam 2024

WWE wrapped up SummerSlam 2024 in Cleveland on August 3, 2024. The Biggest Party of the Summer featured a memorable dual opening performance by Grammy-nominated singer Jelly Roll, who has since expressed interest in returning to the Stamford-based promotion.

The 39-year-old rapper took to the stage after being introduced by Triple H. He performed the patriotic anthem God Bless America followed by his own song, "Liar."

Not only that but later on in the show, Roll surprised the crowd by hitting A-Town Down Under (Grayson Waller & Austin Theory) with a steel chair. He also delivered a powerful chokeslam to the former United States Champion, Austin Theory, followed by a five-knuckle shuffle, paying homage to John Cena.

During an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, the RAW commentator asked Jelly Roll if he was considering getting into shape and bulking up. The 39-year-old Grammy-nominated singer responded by saying he was aiming to get in better shape because he had unfinished business in WWE following SummerSlam 2024.

"I got to by next year dude because I got unfinished business in the WWE," said Jelly Roll. (From 01:58:22 to 01:58:26)

John Cena wants Jelly Roll to be his tag team partner for WWE retirement tour

The Franchise Player is preparing for a farewell tour after announcing his retirement from in-ring competition at the end of 2025.

As mentioned earlier, Jelly Roll had his massive moment at the premium live event in Cleveland following a tribute to John Cena. Roll took to social media and recalled his surreal experience at SummerSlam 2024.

In response to Jelly Roll on X/Twitter, WWE legend John Cena suggested that it would be fitting for the Grammy-nominated artist to become his tag team partner during his retirement campaign in 2025.

"Have listened to his music, had the privilege of spending some time with him, and now know I have a GREAT option for a tag team partner anytime @WWEcomes to Nashville! @JellyRoll615’s Time is Now!!!! #SummerSlam," he wrote.

It would be exciting to see Jelly Roll get into wrestling shape to compete in a singles match or any other bout inside the squared circle of the sports entertainment powerhouse.
