Huge announcement made regarding John Cena
John Cena has been the talk of the town ever since he announced his plans to retire from wrestling by the end of 2025. Now, he has been confirmed to appear in the opening episode of The Simpsons season 36 which is sure to please his fans.
Over the last few years, the 16-time WWE Champion has successfully transitioned to Hollywood, where he has acted in several big-ticket films and has many more projects in the pipeline. As such, this has slowed down Cena's career in WWE as he only appears and wrestles sporadically at marquee premium live events.
The Leader of the Cenation made an unexpected appearance at Money in the Bank 2024, where he announced he would kick start a retirement tour in 2025 until the end of the year. There's no doubt his final few matches in WWE would be an emotional sight for his legion of fans who grew up watching him.
Meanwhile, John Cena continues to make waves outside of WWE. Variety recently confirmed that Cena would be a part of the first episode of The Simpsons' 36th season. It was also noted that other acting legends like Danny DeVito and Tom Hanks would also appear as guest stars on the episode.
CM Punk wants to team up with John Cena in WWE
At the recent San Diego Comic-Con, CM Punk discussed Cena's impending retirement. While Punk acknowledged that fans wanted to see him get inside the ring against John Cena, he was more excited about the prospect of potentially forming a tag team with him before he walked away into the sunset.
"Everybody’s asking me, because [John] Cena has announced his retirement, that, obviously, they want to see us fight each other. I think there’s something to me and him tagging. I think that can be pretty interesting," he said.
One could imagine the kind of pop Cena and Punk could generate if they were to interact during the former's much-anticipated retirement tour.
