Huge claim on WWE's business refuted by veteran: "They haven't sold out next week's show" (Exclusive)
A widely repeated claim across pro wrestling is about how "hot" WWE has been of late. Vince Russo, however, is fed up with hearing about it and recently shared his thoughts on the potential reality of ticket sales.
The takeover from Endeavour and the change of guard in the creative team kickstarted a change that continues to reshape the present and future of the company.
World Wrestling Entertainment has boasted record-breaking profits for its live shows, especially the International PLEs. The general perception is that they are as hot as ever, but Vince Russo had a counterargument.
On the latest episode of Sportskeeda Wrestling's Legion of RAW, Russo questioned why WWE was still advertising tickets for next week's shows when they should have already been sold out. The former pro wrestling writer was brutally honest, as you can view below:
"Here's a funny thing because I'm so sick and tired of hearing this. Everybody, 'How hot this is! This is on fire!' Well, if this is so hot, why are they advertising tickets for next week's RAW in Evansville, Indiana? "Why are tickets still on sale? Chris, why are they still advertising tickets for the first Saturday Night's Main Event? Why isn't that sold out? Don't tell me how freakin hot it is when they haven't sold out next week's show." [42:15 onwards]
Vince Russo additionally revealed that he recently spoke to some fans in New York, who claimed they would probably not go to a WWE show due to the high ticket prices.
He continued:
"You know what they said to me, bro? Not even they would pay the price of the ticket that WWE was asking. That's why they weren't going, bro, because of the price of the tickets." [43:00 - 44:00]
While RAW, SmackDown, and PLEs will be of prime focus, WWE is looking to cut down its house shows in the future, and it would be interesting to see how the new model works out for the company heading into 2025.
