Huge WWE legend returning to interfere in Cody Rhodes vs. Gunther is possible, says veteran; it's not Brock Lesnar

Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes will square off against World Heavyweight Champion Gunther tonight at Crown Jewel. A wrestling veteran suggested a huge legend could make a surprise return to interfere in the match.

Since Chief Content Officer Triple H announced the Crown Jewel Championship match between Rhodes and Gunther, fans and experts have discussed several scenarios for the fight, including Brock Lesnar returning to cost The Ring General the square-off and Kevin Owens interfering to cost The American Nightmare. Meanwhile, recent reports suggested WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg would be in Saudi Arabia tonight. The latter almost got physical with Gunther at Bad Blood after the World Heavyweight Champion insulted him during the same segment in which The Game introduced the Crown Jewel Title.

On the Straight Talk with the Boss podcast, wrestling veteran Magnum T.A. suggested Goldberg could interfere in the Rhodes vs. Gunther match. He claimed The Ring General could soon receive a "receipt" from the former Universal Champion:

"There might be a receipt, there may be a receipt coming over there that might unsettle the apple cart," he said. [33:10 - 33:16]

Bill Apter does not rule out Goldberg returning at WWE Crown Jewel 2024

On an episode of Smack Talk, legendary journalist Bill Apter discussed the possibility of Goldberg returning at Crown Jewel to get involved in the Crown Jewel Championship match.

Apter pointed out that Goldberg costing The Ring General his match against The American Nightmare would be the way WWE would bring the Hall of Famer back to start a feud with Gunther:

"The Goldberg scenario with Gunther was so in Atlanta several weeks ago. You've got Gunther vs. Cody [Rhodes] at Crown Jewel. What a great way to have Gunther lose. The referee takes a bump, and Goldberg comes in, and spears Gunther. Cody - 1,2,3! Then you get the Gunther-Goldberg slight feud to happen maybe or my other thing is - if it happens the other way, then Kevin Owens screws Cody. But I think that's how they bring Goldberg back. He's going to do something at Crown Jewel."

Goldberg's last match happened in Saudi Arabia when he lost to Roman Reigns at Elimination Chamber in 2022. It would be interesting to see if he will return tonight in the Gulf country.
