Huge WWE RAW Superstar challenging Gunther for the World Heavyweight Title is possible, says ex-employee, after potential win at Bad Blood
Gunther has held the World Heavyweight Championship since WWE SummerSlam 2024. Meanwhile, a former WWE employee has predicted that a top RAW Superstar could soon challenge The Ring General after potentially scoring a massive victory at Bad Blood.
The superstar in question is none other than Drew McIntyre. The Scottish Warrior is currently in a heated feud with CM Punk. The two superstars exchanged victories at SummerSlam and Bash in Berlin. They will now square off in a Hell in a Cell Match at Bad Blood. Meanwhile, Gunther will defend his World Heavyweight Championship against Sami Zayn on next week's RAW.
Speaking on the Behind The Turnbuckle: The Last Word podcast, Tommy Carlucci predicted that Gunther would emerge victorious over Zayn. He wondered if McIntyre could become The Ring General's next opponent after potentially beating Punk at Bad Blood.
"I don't know what they see in him. And beyond the fact that you don't, Sami's not gonna win the title, so where do they go from there with him? Do they move on? And hopefully, somewhere down the line, hopefully Drew goes over at Hell in a Cell, and then it's Drew and Gunther? I don't know. I really don't know," he said. [19:43-20:05]
A former WWE employee slams Gunther for being ''boring!''
In the same episode of the Behind The Turnbuckle: The Last Word podcast, Tommy Carlucci heavily criticized Gunther while addressing the Imperium leader's segment with Sami Zayn last night on RAW.
Carlucci, who spent over 30 years in the Stamford-based company, slammed The Ring General for being "so freaking boring!"
"Can Gunther get any more boring? Really. I'm not trying to be an a**hole about this whole thing, but he is so freaking boring even cutting a promo that at least he's trying to be exciting, but I'm not hooked. I'm not hooked at all. They've been shoving this down our throats for the last month. And you knew there was gonna be a payoff where Sami was gonna get his match. I don't give a s**t. I don't care, and I don't think anybody else cares either," he said.
Since winning the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam, Gunther has defended his title only once. He retained the gold against Randy Orton at Bash in Berlin. It will be interesting to see if the Austrian star beats Zayn in next week's edition of the flagship show.
