Hulk Hogan reveals why he rejected Who Killed WCW appearance (Exclusive)
Hulk Hogan was not included in the recent VICE TV docuseries Who Killed WCW. In an exclusive interview, the two-time WWE Hall of Famer shed light on why he did not want to appear on the show.
Hogan was among WCW's biggest stars between 1994 and 2000. Who Killed WCW analyzed why the company went downhill before being sold to then-WWE Chairman Vince McMahon in 2001.
Speaking to Sportskeeda Wrestling Senior Editor Bill Apter, Hogan confirmed he was approached about appearing in the series. However, he felt the team behind Who Killed WCW focused too much on negativity in their past Dark Side of the Ring episodes:
"I was basically talked to about doing interviews and stuff," Hogan said. "The Rock produced it. He said I would be a vital part of the show and they really didn't wanna do it without me, but I just watched so much Dark Side of the Ring and so much negative stuff all the time that I'm in a completely different place now." WWE icon The Rock was among the Who Killed WCW executive producers. VICE TV's Evan Husney, Jason Eisener, and Lee Hoffman also collaborated on the project.
Hulk Hogan would only have discussed WCW on one condition
While Dark Side of the Ring and Who Killed WCW revolve around controversial topics, Hulk Hogan prefers to focus on positive wrestling stories.
The Hulkster added that he would happily have agreed to appear in the series if it centered around good things that happened in WCW:
"If it was called the Light Side of the Ring or the Happy Side of the Ring, I'd love to do an interview," Hogan said. "But I just didn't wanna be a part of the negative flow that comes off that. 'Who killed WCW? Ooh, the cancer. Discussion.' I just don't want to feed into that anymore." [4:49 – 5:10]
During his time in WCW, Hogan formed the legendary nWo stable with Kevin Nash and Scott Hall. He also won the WCW World Heavyweight Championship six times.
