Hulk Hogan and several other legends knowingly broke a rule in WWE, says veteran (Exclusive)

Hulk Hogan is undoubtedly one of the most recognizable wrestlers in WWE history. However, this apparently did not stop him and several other legends of his time from breaking an important rule.

Back when Hogan was the top star in the Stamford-based promotion, Vince McMahon was aggresively expanding WWE's reach. In an effort to gain media presence, McMahon banned other magazine's photographers from taking pictures on live shows. This negatively impacted many journalists, including Hall of Famer Bill Apter.

There were occasions when some stars broke WWE's rules to get their pictures clicked by external photographers. On Sportskeeda Wrestling's UnSKripted, Apter said the following about incidents involving Edge, Christian, and The Iron Sheik:

"There are several wrestlers who broke the rules. Hulk Hogan, the day after winning the title from Iron Sheik, called me and he says, 'He's not gonna fire me. Come up to my hotel room' and let me take pictures of him with the belt. Ricky Steamboat once in a while, Edge [and] Christian, if I were in a hotel out of town where the wrestlers were? Some of them would go and like, 'How can I get on the cover of the magazine?'" [18:14 onwards]

WWE eventually lifted the ban on external magazines and journalists, deciding to work with them instead to expand the product's reach.
