"I ain’t gonna be around forever" - 73-year-old WWE veteran addresses return under new management

WWE is hours away from its final big show of the year in Long Island. Recently, Jesse 'The Body' Ventura detailed the reason behind returning to the Stamford-based promotion for the first time in fifteen years.

In 2009, Jesse 'The Body' Ventura made a one-off appearance on Monday Night RAW as he reunited with Vince McMahon at the commentary desk. However, the veteran and the management's falling out caused him to stay away from the Stamford-based promotion for decades.

In an interview with the New York Post, the 73-year-old veteran stated the reason behind his new deal with WWE under the new regime. The Hall of Famer stated that his family was the reason behind his return, as he wants them to benefit from his work in the industry when he's gone:

“My son was a fan of wrestling and a fan of myself growing up, so he took it upon himself to make some contact with the new ownership and they started talking,” Ventura said.

He added:

“One thing led to another, and I realized they were under new ownership and I wasn’t going to be held to the old standard of why I got kicked out before. Lo and behold it happened. I’ll tell you this: I did it selfishly for my kids. I’m 73 now. I ain’t gonna be around forever. I want to position it where if anybody makes money off my name, I want my kids to have a piece of it," Ventura said. [H/T: New York Post]

CM Punk could team up with Jesse Ventura for WWE Saturday Night's Main Event

Earlier this year, CM Punk met Jesse 'The Body' Ventura on Monday Night RAW before his in-ring return at WWE SummerSlam 2024. The two had a conversation and have spoken highly of each other in interviews and podcasts.

However, The Second City Saint could make a surprise appearance in Long Island for WWE Saturday Night's Main Event. While commentating for CFFC, the multi-time World Champion teased a massive team-up for the event.

"I gotta get this out of my system. I might be doing commentary with Jesse 'The Body' Ventura tomorrow night at Saturday Night's Main Event. I gotta relax," Punk said.

There's a high possibility of the team up coming to fruition after Punk mentioned it and it'll be interesting to see what surprises the management has in store for Saturday Night's Main Event.
