"I am so ashamed" - Female ex-WWE star reveals her thoughts wrestling in controversial match

A female ex-WWE star has spoken about a very controversial match from when the women stars were involved in the company and put in segments that didn't focus on their wrestling prowess. She has admitted that she was very ashamed at the time.

Hiroko Suzuki was part of several big segments for WWE, but one of the moments that she is best remembered for is her match against Torrie Wilson. The two wrestled in a Kimono match, which was an adjusted version of the controversial Evening Gown Match or other such matches, where the objective was for female wrestlers to strip their opponents down to their underwear.

Naturally, these controversial matches are a thing of the past, with the women's evolution seeing actual matches as the focus of the very talented women's roster.

However, during her appearance on the Ring the Belle podcast, Hiroko Suzuki spoke about her experience. She admitted that, at the time, she had been very ashamed to be wrestling in that match, especially with such a large crowd.

She went on to say that now she looks back on it and thinks of it as a really fun match. She noted that Torrie also found it funny, and the two of them laughed about it backstage.

"I am ashamed at that time. I am so ashamed. But a lot of fun... Yeah, yeah, good memory. She laughed a lot, 'Hiroko, it's so funny, it's so funny,' she said," Hiroko recalled. (15:47 - 16:05)

WWE has a very talented women's division now

Times have changed since Hiroko was wrestling in the company, and with a very talented number of women on the roster, the focus is now more on in-ring competition than anything else.

With WWE stars like Rhea Ripley, Nia Jax, Charlotte Flair, Bayley, etc., there's been a very successful push for women to be in some of the company's best storylines.
