"I give them credit for that" - WWE veteran comments on Brock Lesnar's vicious assault on Cody Rhodes (Exclusive)
Former WWE head writer Vince Russo has shared his thoughts on Brock Lesnar's sneak attack on Cody Rhodes during this week's RAW.
The two stars were slated to come face-to-face on the red brand this week before their showdown at Night of Champions. However, The Beast Incarnate brutally assaulted Cody Rhodes in the backstage area. Lesnar targeted Rhodes' arm and sandwiched it between the garage door and a barrel.
The former Universal Champion later issued an open challenge for Night of Champions, but Rhodes came out to confront him. However, Brock Lesnar further damaged The American Nightmare's arm with a Kimura Lock.
Speaking about the segment on Sportskeeda Wrestling's Legion of RAW, Vince Russo credited WWE for not using the bone break sound often played when Lesnar breaks someone's arm with the Kimura Lock.
"Chris [Dr. Chris Featherstone, the host], we gotta give them credit here. This is the one spot we're gonna put WWE over. I thought this was coming, but they didn't play the sound effect of a bone breaking. I swear I am shocked that they didn't do it. I am shocked that we didn't have that sound of a bone breaking, bro. I give them credit for that." [1:10:57 - 1:11:28]
Vince Russo also commented on Triple H-Cody Rhodes' interaction on WWE RAW
After Cody Rhodes suffered a brutal beatdown at the hands of Brock Lesnar on RAW, The American Nightmare refused to seek medical attention. He was approached by Triple H towards the end of the show, who told him that he could tell his arm was broken. However, Rhodes refused to listen to The Game, insisting he would face Brock Lesnar at Night of Champions.
Here's what Vince Russo had to say about the segment:
"Bro, the best line of the entire show was Triple H looking at Cody's arm and saying, 'I could tell that arm is broken just by looking at it.' Bro, it didn't look any different. Really Trips? What, you got x-ray vision now? That arm looked perfectly fine to me, Chris."
It was previously reported that WWE is planning a series of matches between Cody Rhodes and Brock Lesnar. Based on what happened on RAW, it's highly likely that the story will continue after Night of Champions.
