"I hate it" - Rising WWE Superstar should not have lost his title at SummerSlam, feels Bill Apter (Exclusive)
WWE SummerSlam 2024 had its share of surprising title changes. Hall of Fame journalist Bill Apter feels that one of the rising stars losing his gold was a poor booking decision.
The rising star in question is Damian Priest. At SummerSlam, Priest faced Gunther with the World Heavyweight Title at stake. While the two talents seemed evenly matched at the start, The Archer of Infamy lost his chance to pin The Ring General due to Finn Balor's interference. This led to the Imperium leader securing the win and becoming the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion.
On Sportskeeda Wrestling's UnSKripted, Bill Apter expressed disappointment at the fact that the gold was taken off Priest. According to Apter, the former Judgment Day member was starting to gain momentum before he was dethroned by Gunther.
"I hate it that they took the title off him, because like I said, he is not the most prolific guy in the world for the title but I think he was starting to gain a little bit of respect." [21:36 onwards]

As of now, only time will tell what WWE has planned for Damian Priest's future. At Bash in Berlin, he will team up with Rhea Ripley to face Dominik Mysterio and Liv Morgan in a Mixed Tag Team match.
