"I was hiding" - 35-year-old star recalls making a surprise return to WWE at recent event
At NXT Battleground last Sunday, a former WWE Superstar made an unexpected appearance during the show. The person in question is TNA wrestler Ash By Elegance.
The wrestler formerly known as Dana Brooke appeared during the NXT Women's Championship match between Jordynne Grace and Roxanne Perez. She and Tatum Paxley had a tug-of-war over the TNA Knockouts World Championship, and Grace took them both out. Ash is after the title, so she didn't want Paxley to escape with it.
In a recent interview with ComicBook, Ash By Elegance explained how she disguised herself to surprise the WWE fans at NXT Battleground.
"I kept everything on the DL. I was hiding. I had my hat, I had my hoodie, I had my sunglasses. Nobody knew who I was. I made that sneak appearance, sneak attack, and here I am. I took a red eye back to Miami this morning and am enjoying about a day and a half vacation with my family and then I'm back on the road for some TNA action in Chicago. I'm booked and busy, baby," the 35-year-old said. [H/T Comicbook]
Ash By Elegance on when she found out about appearing at WWE NXT Battleground
TNA and WWE are currently working together, which is how Jordynne Grace was able to challenge for the NXT Women's Championship. There's a big chance that there will be more crossovers between the two companies.
During the same interview, Ash By Elegance explained how and when she learned about her NXT Battleground cameo.
"My gosh, it was seriously last minute. I was going about my week and I had an appearance on Saturday in Jacksonville. I get a call, I think it was late Thursday, even maybe early Friday morning, and they're like, 'Hey, are you available this weekend? We'd love to have you come back and do something with TNA and NXT. I was like, 'What?! Oh yeah, count me in!' They booked my flight from Jacksonville over to Vegas," she said. [H/T Comicbook]
Jordynne Grace will defend her TNA Knockouts World Championship in an open challenge at Against All Odds on June 14, 2024. It'll be interesting to see who will emerge as her opponent.
