"I would love to see him back in WWE" - Wrestling legend wants Matt Hardy to return after leaving AEW

Wrestling veteran Matt Hardy recently parted ways with AEW after his contract expired. WWE Hall of Famer Booker T said he'd love to see him and Jeff Hardy return to the Stamford-based company.

It was reported by Fightful that the 49-year-old star chose not to renew his contract with All Elite Wrestling after four years. He officially became a free agent on April 8. However, his brother Jeff Hardy is still signed to Tony Khan's promotion. The Charismatic Enigma joined in 2022 and they reformed The Hardy Boyz in AEW.

Speaking on the latest episode of the Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T said he wouldn't mind seeing Matt Hardy in WWE again now that he's no longer in AEW. He added that he'd like to see the latter and Jeff Hardy inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.

"I would love to see him back in WWE. I'd love to see Jeff back in WWE. I want to see both of these guys going into the WWE Hall of Fame. They deserve it, they really do. The body of work those guys put in, the legendary matches that those guys had with teams like The Dudleys. Yeah man, I want to see those guys take their rightful place one day. So maybe this is the beginning, this is the spark. I haven't seen Jeff on AEW doing anything in quite some time. So he may be a free agent too for all I know," said Booker. [47:34 - 48:00]

Eric Bischoff says he could see Jeff and Matt Hardy returning to WWE for one last run

WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff also shared his thoughts on the former WWE star possibly going back to the pro wrestling juggernaut.

Speaking on a recent edition of the 83 Weeks podcast, Eric Bischoff said he doesn't think Matt Hardy would return to WWE on his own, but he could see him returning with Jeff for one last run.

"Oh it would be a beautiful setup if that's possible. It's kind of what I was asking about, why I was asking about Jeff. Matt going back to WWE on his own I think is less likely, Matt and Jeff if Jeff's available, more likely...Because of what you just said, and I did think about that you know last match, kind of send-off retirement, but definitely could see that," said Bischoff.

It'll be interesting to see whether Matt Hardy returns to WWE soon or whether he'll wait for his brother's AEW deal to expire so they can go back together.
