"I'm not a fan" - Recent WWE decision did not help Bayley at all, complains veteran (Exclusive)
WWE presented another SmackDown episode featuring a Triple Threat Match involving Bayley. Meanwhile, wrestling veteran Dutch Mantell pointed out the issues with the booking decision.
The 35-year-old took on Candice LeRae and B-Fab in the Women's United States Championship tournament, and as expected, The Role Model came out victorious.
Wrestling three-way matches can always be tricky, and as revealed on Smack Talk, Dutch Mantell wasn't a massive fan of the format. The former manager felt Triple Threat bouts were booked just to get talents on TV who usually aren't lucky enough to secure spots regularly.
Mantell stated that the match did nothing for Bayley and her opponents, as you can view below:
"I'm not a fan of the three ways anyway, to begin with. I was like, the three-way is just put in there to get somebody on TV. Who did she beat? B-Fab? I don't think that helped anybody, really. I mean, Bayley winning, I don't even think it helped her. But you can cover 8 minutes with it. It was going to be a good match, and I think that's why it was put in there for." [From 26:20 onwards]
From the days when WWE struggled with a weak women's division, Dutch Mantell said the company had done well to stack up the roster in recent months.
However, none of the stars could make an impact, and Mantell hoped to see some uniqueness in their portrayal and the emergence of top names in the process.
