"I'm so proud of him" - AJ Styles shares heartfelt words for current WWE star
While AJ Styles has been used to elevate multiple names within the company, the former WWE Champion is often primarily credited with building Omos. The Nigerian Giant got his big break in the industry after he was paired with Styles, and since then, his career has been on an upward trajectory.
Omos first made an appearance on the main roster as the bouncer for Shane McMahon's RAW Underground. After the angle was ditched, Omos re-debuted as Styles' bodyguard, slowly transitioning into an in-ring role. The two became a successful tag team, and even held the RAW Tag Team Championships for over 132 days.
Speaking with Sportsmail in a recent interview, AJ Styles reflected on Omos' WWE career so far. The Phenomenal One had nothing but positive things to say about his former tag team partner:
"I'm so proud of him dude, so proud of him. It's harder for a man of his size to learn what we do, it's not easy. It's easier for me, guys like this size, cos I can do almost everything right? But for him, a guy who's like 7'3, 7'4 with his shoes on, for him to be doing what he's doing right now I am absolutely one hundred per cent loving it and so proud of him cos it's not easy for a man of his size," said Styles.
Omos' journey in WWE so far
After the duo dropped the tag team titles, Omos turned on Styles leading to a match between the two. The bout was a quick one which saw the 7-foot-3 giant completely dominate the match and getting his first major singles win on the roster.
Having hit a ceiling with Styles, Omos was then paired with MVP, who effectively served as his mouthpiece last year. Omos remained undefeated until WrestleMania 38, where his streak was toppled by Bobby Lashley, who became the first person in WWE to get a singles win over The Nigerian Giant.
The next several weeks saw the two go back and forth, with Omos even getting his win back over Bobby Lashley. Later that year, Omos would go on to feud with Braun Strowman, further pushing him up the card before getting into his biggest rivalry to date with Brock Lesnar.
Even though Omos suffered a loss, facing Brock Lesnar most certainly did wonders for Omos' career, helping him get to the next level.
