"I'm scared of that guy" - Stephen Amell comments on potentially returning to face 25-time WWE champion
Stephen Amell recently discussed his potential return to WWE. The Canadian actor expressed interest in locking horns with John Cena inside the squared circle during the latter's Retirement Tour. The Franchise Player is a 16-time WWE World Champion, a five-time United States Champion, and a four-time Tag Team Champion.
Amell has had only one wrestling match in the Stamford-based promotion. He joined forces with Neville at SummerSlam 2015 and defeated Wade Barrett (FKA King Barrett) and Cody Rhodes (FKA Stardust) in a tag-team match.
Meanwhile, The Cenation Leader announced at Money in the Bank 2024 that he would retire from in-ring duties in 2025. The veteran later revealed the details of his Farewell Tour, which will take place from January to December next year.
In a recent episode of the INSIGHT podcast, host Chris Van Vliet asked the 43-year-old actor if he would be interested in a match against John Cena during the latter's WWE Retirement Tour.
While Stephen Amell was open to the idea, he acknowledged that The Greatest of All Time's imposing physical presence, coupled with his generally kind demeanor, made the prospect a bit intimidating.
"I mean, sure. Why not? I'm scared of that [John Cena] guy, though; he's huge; he's large, and very, very kind," he said. (From 47:13 to 47:26)

Stephen Amell reveals he didn't get along with top WWE star
Nine years ago, when the Canadian actor was a part of the Road to SummerSlam ahead of his maiden in-ring outing at The Biggest Party of The Summer, Roman Reigns was in the midst of an extensive but unpopular push into the main-event scene. However, the 39-year-old's popularity soared when he became The Tribal Chief in 2020.
During the same interaction with Chris Van Vliet on INSIGHT, Stephen Amell disclosed that he and Roman Reigns did not have a strong rapport. He clarified, however, that there was no real-life animosity between them.
"The only guy that I didn't really get along with was Roman [Reigns]. Not for any particular reason, but I'm on a loop with these guys, and everyone was very inclusionary, and he just kind of keeps to himself. So I don't think it had anything to do with me personally, but he was the only guy that I never really got on with," Amell said.
It will be interesting to see if the 43-year-old actor returns to the Sports Entertainment juggernaut during John Cena's Farewell Tour.
