"I'm upset," says legend after what WWE did to Damian Priest (Exclusive)

After having a pretty impressive reign as World Heavyweight Champion, Damian Priest is currently looking for revenge against the new Judgment Day. Bill Apter, however, is still upset about WWE's decision to take the title away from The Archer of Infamy.

Damian Priest defended the World Heavyweight Title against Gunther at SummerSlam, and as many predicted, The Ring General became the new world champion after a grueling contest. Unfortunately for Damian, an interference from Finn Balor crushed his dreams of continuing a solid title reign.

While reviewing the top matches from SummerSlam on The Wrestling Time Machine, Bill Apter admitted he was unhappy seeing Damian lose as the Puerto Rican star deserved a longer reign with the belt.

Apter noted how the fans' respect towards Priest had increased due to his work as champion. Had the legendary journalist been the booking head, he would have kept Priest as the titleholder coming out of SummerSlam.

Bill Apter explained:

"I'm upset. To me, Damian Priest was just coming into his own as champion. He started to become respected. His interviews were not screaming and yelling like everyone else's, and he started gaining steam as a champion, and people started to respect him. I would have left that belt on him if it was me." Teddy Long reacts to Gunther dethroning Damian Priest

The World Heavyweight Championship clash was the second-longest match on this year's SummerSlam card and arguably amongst the best of the evening. Priest and Gunther put on a "great match," according to Teddy Long, who reserved special praise for the Austrian superstar.

While Long considered Damian Priest a phenomenal competitor, the WWE Hall of Famer didn't mind Gunther as the world champion. Teddy Long congratulated the 36-year-old star and briefly explained what made him a special talent:

"Great match, like you said. I really like Gunther, man! He certainly impresses me. He does a good job out there; he is good on the mic, and he is great in the ring. Damian is another great athlete, too, man, so how can these two not have a good match? Congratulations to Gunther." [5:26 - 5:44]

Gunther will most likely headline Bash in Berlin in a rematch against Randy Orton, and this time, the Ring General would want to pick up a clean and decisive win over The Viper.
