"I think they hold on to them for too long" - Triple H urged to make massive WWE change by legend

A former WWE manager recently shared some insight about the company and suggested an idea that Triple H might consider. Dutch Mantell, more famously known as Zeb Colter, thought that NXT stars should not stay in the developmental brand for more than two years.

On the latest episode of Story Time with Dutch Mantell, the 74-year-old wrestling personality was discussing Logan Paul. He pointed out how Paul was different from most of the wrestlers in NXT.

Mantell then mentioned that some of the stars in developmental spend too much time there rather than wrestling. He thought that it would be better if young prospects honed their craft in professional matches after two years at the Performance Center.

"It takes five years to pick up this business and it's almost true now that's why they keep NXT guys for so long so they can pick up as much as they can. I think they hold on [to] them for too long because if you've had two years of wrestling training, you need to be working somewhere. It don't [sic] take you that long to learn it but Logan Paul came along with a plan, with a business plan that he presented to WWE and said, 'Hey, let's get started in this and see what happens and it's worked. And it has worked for WWE and it's worked for Logan Paul," Mantell said. [8:16 - 8:54]

NXT has turned into a third brand for WWE, but it remains the place to develop talents. Most stars learn the craft at the Performance Center, although it also helps international wrestlers get used to the company's preferred style of production and wrestling.

Dutch Mantell shares advice to WWE stars

On the same episode of Story Time with Dutch Mantell, the former wrestling manager also gave some advice to the wrestlers on WWE's roster. Dutch Mantell recognized that current stars made more money than ever, but they still needed to prepare for life after wrestling.

"Make as much money as you can as quick as you can and then when you get out, start your business. Get yourself another line of employment or how to make a few bucks. Write a book, do this, do that because we've all had to do that," Mantell said. [12:24 - 12:40 in the video above]

Some stars continue to wrestle in different promotions after their time with World Wrestling Entertainment, while others start their own businesses or podcasts. Some even go into acting or just get a normal job.
