"I think Hunter was a big naysayer" - Major name says he earned Triple H's "respect" after his first WWE match

WWE is a globally recognized brand with celebrities crossing over and stepping inside the ring for segments or matches. Recently, Arrow and Heels' star Stephen Amell recalled how he earned Triple H's respect after his first wrestling match in the company.

Stephen Amell is no stranger to professional wrestling as he's been a lifelong fan. Amell has even stepped inside the ring to prepare for his recent hit TV show, Heels. However, there was a time when Amell was on WWE TV and feuded with Cody Rhodes, (fka Stardust).

In an interview on INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet, the 43-year-old star discussed his first match at SummerSlam in 2015 alongside Neville (aka PAC). The star stated that there were many naysayers at the time for the idea, including Triple H. However, Amell earned The King of King's respect after the match.

"Cody [Rhodes] fought really hard for our match. I think there were a lot of naysayers, and I think Hunter was a big naysayer, like he didn't like the idea from what I understand. But then he came up and sought me out after the match, and we took a photo doing the 'Too Sweet'. He was just like, 'Respect, man.'" Amell said. [From 30:58 to 31:23]

In 2015, Cody Rhodes worked on the main roster as Stardust when he tussled with Stephen Amell. This led to a tag team match at WWE SummerSlam where Amell teamed up with Neville to take on Stardust and Wade Barrett. The former team won the match.

However, Amell and Rhodes became friends out of the ring as Cody made a few appearances as a villain on CW's Arrow. Later, the two worked on the independent circuit when the 43-year-old star teamed up with the Bullet Club.

The star's second victory came in a five-on-four handicap match at 2017's ROH: Survival of the Fittest. Later, he lost a one-on-one match against Christopher Daniels at All In 2018.
