"I will race you back" - Ivar sends challenge to injured WWE Superstar
Ivar of The Viking Raiders announced that he was dealing with an injury ahead of tonight's episode of WWE SmackDown. The big man has been competing in singles-action in WWE while his tag team partner, Erik, was out recovering from a neck fusion surgery.
Oba Femi defeated Ivar on the April 30 edition of NXT to retain the North American Championship. The veteran was then attacked by Gallus backstage on this past Tuesday's edition of NXT, and the company announced earlier today that he was ruled out of action indefinitely. Ivar took to his social media to share that he is dealing with a serious injury and his future is uncertain at the moment.

"There has been alot of misinformation floating around about me. Let me clearify: Yes I am injured. Yes it is very serious. No I have not had surgery. Still trying to figure out all options and what this means for my future. Continued...," he wrote.
Erik responded to his tag team partner and said that he loved him. He added that The Viking Raiders will return down the line. Ivar hilariously reacted to the message and suggested they race each other back to WWE television.
"Love you too @Erik_WWE. I will race you back," wrote Ivar.
WWE Superstar Ivar comments on Erik's injury
Ivar recently gave a status update on Erik's recovery from successful neck fusion surgery last year.
During an interview with TV Insider earlier this week, the former RAW Tag Team Champion was asked to share an update on Erik's recovery. He noted that his tag team partner was doing well but added that "necks are weird". The 40-year-old referenced Big E's unfortunate neck injury in 2022 and said that just like the veteran, Erik was also taking time with the recovery process.
"It’s slow and steady. It’s a neck injury. I had a neck injury a few years ago. Necks are weird. We all know with Big E, his neck was weird. It’s a matter of how you heal and recover. He is doing great, but it’s slow and steady. It’s a matter of time before he is back," said Ivar.
The Viking Raiders were a popular tag team before Erik went down with an injury. It will be interesting to see if WWE reunites the duo once they are both cleared to return to in-ring action.
