"I can't wrestle forever" - 7-time champion provides update on WWE future

WWE Superstars often transition into different roles in the industry when their time as a performer comes to an end. Recently, a former three-time World Champion provided an update regarding his future in the company.

Earlier this year, Drew McIntyre was written off television when he lost to Damian Priest at WWE Saturday Night's Main Event. The Scottish Warrior not only lost the match but also took a brutal-looking con-chair-to from El Campeon, and Priest walked out of the cage to end their rivalry.

In an interview with Gorilla Position, the former WWE, World Heavyweight, NXT, Intercontinental, and multi-time Tag Team Champion was asked about his future as a performer. McIntyre revealed he's looking for hobbies outside professional wrestling, as he can't wrestle forever as much as he would like to.

"Very few. I need to get some hobbies. My wife's always on me, but apparently I can't wrestle forever, as much as I might try. So, I need to figure out what's the next step. She's always talking about business ventures and the like, and I was like, I did the one thing that I always wanted to do my entire life; I don't want to do another job. So, I figure I need a bunch of hobbies. I don't know what the hobbies are yet, but I'm going to figure it out," McIntyre said. (From 00:50 to 01:18)

Later, the host asked if he would like to transition into a backstage role when all is said and done. While McIntyre didn't directly address it, he stated he would evaluate his options given his physical condition yearly.

"Yeah, I mean, it certainly doesn't feel as good as it used to, but it looks better than it ever has. I'm just s**ier than ever, and I keep evolving. But on the inside, it doesn't feel great. We'll see. I will take each year as it comes," McIntyre said. (From 01:38 to 01:55)

WWE Hall of Famer wants Drew McIntyre to turn face

Drew McIntyre has been a heel in the Stamford-based promotion for a while, and a WWE Hall of Famer wants to see a major change in The Scottish Warrior whenever he returns to the weekly product.

Speaking on his 83 Weeks podcast, Eric Bischoff said he misses Drew McIntyre as a baby face and wants to see him return as a good guy whenever he's back on television.

"I like him as a babyface. I just do. He's that Scottish Warrior. He's Braveheart, modern-day version of it. I love that. I could listen to him cut promos all afternoon. I just love his stuff. He's so good." [1:01:24 – 1:01:44]

It'll be interesting to see when McIntyre returns to WWE programming.
