Inaugural WWE champion seemingly training for in-ring return; he was brutally written off television
WWE is gearing up to host its annual Money in the Bank Premium Live Event in Canada at the beginning of July. Meanwhile, former NXT North American and inaugral Speed Champion Ricochet was seen training after he was written off weekly television recently.
Ricochet's career in WWE slowed down when the former NXT North American Champion moved to the main roster. Sadly, many feel he spent years stuck in limbo as the creative provided nothing substantial for the 35-year-old star. However, it all changed for him under the new regime.
Earlier this year, he etched his name in the history books for the second time when he became the inaugural WWE Speed Champion. Unfortunately, he was brutally written off television on Monday Night RAW by Bron Breakker on June 10th, 2024.
In reality, the former Intercontinental and United States Champion will reportedly leave the Stamford-based promotion in July, as he had decided not to sign a new deal with the company. Today, he uploaded a video where he was seemingly seen training for an in-ring return after the attack by Bron Breakker.
"Ganbatte ✊🏽," Ricochet wrote.
The star was seen boxing, and it could be one of the possibilities on what's on the card for him next after leaving the promotion. Ricochet has remained silent on his next move in professional wrestling for a while. Many stars across promotions have shown interest in wanting to share the ring with the former Prince Puma.
Konnan on why Ricochet shouldn't go to AEW after leaving WWE
Several contracts within the company have either expired or renewed under Triple H's new regime. Meanwhile, Richocet is reportedly leaving the Stamford-based promotion when the 35-year-old star's contract expires in the coming month.
Speaking on Keepin' It 100 OFFICIAL, Konnan assessed Ricochet's contract situation and stated that the former Intercontinental Champion should not head to All Elite Wrestling after leaving WWE.
"Bro, I think if they [WWE] would've let him fly, and even though you think they don't want him to get hurt, he would've stood out. He hasn't stood out. He's been there for a long time. He's one of the greatest high-flyers. He'll go to AEW, where they love that indie style, and he'll have great matches, but he won't be a big star because nobody ever is," Konnan said.
