Inaugural WWE champion wants to have her breakout moment as solo competitor
WWE Superstars have a golden opportunity in Canada next month to become the new Mr. and Ms. Money in the Bank. Meanwhile, Damage CTRL's Dakota Kai has clarified her intentions for the event as the Auckland-born star aims for her breakout moment as a solo competitor.
Dakota Kai was an integral part of the women's division of the then-Black and Gold brand. Besides becoming the inaugural NXT Women's Tag Team Champion alongside Raquel Rodriguez and holding the title twice, Kai has also held the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship alongside Damage CTRL's IYO SKY.
However, the star hasn't had the opportunity to work as a singles competitor on WWE's main roster. Recently, she spoke about the upcoming qualifier match for the Women's MITB Ladder Match in Canada. The 36-year-old will lock horns with Zoey Stark and Ivy Nile in a Triple Threat Match on next week's RAW.
Ahead of her match, the RAW Superstar took to her Twitter (X) and asserted that it was about time that she got her moment as a ''solo competitor!''
"I’ve yet to have my moment as a solo competitor on a PLE. I really think it’s about time we make that happen," Kai wrote.
It'll be interesting to see if Kai can secure a spot in the upcoming Ladder match in Canada.
Damage CTRL has been on the losing end of things on WWE RAW
Last year, Damage CTRL gained new allies on WWE's main roster when Asuka and Kairi Sane decided to join the fray. The faction dominated the women's division for a while, as they held three titles simultaneously.
However, the stable started losing steam as they went up against Bayley, Naomi, Jade Cargill, and Bianca Belair, heading into one of the biggest WrestleManias of all time in the company's history.
After the annual Draft, the faction was moved to Monday Night RAW. Sadly, the loss of momentum continued for the group as Asuka went on a hiatus due to an injury ahead of the King and Queen of the Ring event.
Later, Dakota Kai and Kairi Sane added losses to their names, which didn't sit well with IYO SKY. It'll be interesting to see if Kai can manage to qualify and join SKY in the upcoming Ladder match in Toronto.
