Injured WWE star hints at sudden return after a title match
A WWE star currently on the sidelines due to an injury recently hinted at a potential return soon. The star reacted after reigning NXT Women's Champion Roxanne Perez successfully defended her prestigious title at Heatwave 2024.
Cora Jade has been out since January 2024, when she suffered a torn ACL, MCL, and meniscus in her left knee during an NXT Live Event. Jade underwent successful surgery and was ruled out for approximately six to nine months, depending on her rehabilitation and recovery.
In a post on her official Twitter (X) account following Perez's title defense over Lola Vice at NXT Heatwave, The Mean Girl teased her return.
"I was told an ACL injury heals in six to nine months. That was in January. :)," the young WWE star wrote.
It's not the first time Cora Jade has teased her potential return. She recently shared a workout video of herself lifting weights. The Sorceress of Sin also seemingly set her sights on her former tag team partner, Roxanne Perez.
The duo won the NXT Women's Tag Team Championship in July 2022, but it was short-lived after Jade turned on The Prodigy. They feuded for the rest of the year before moving on to their next storylines. Jade was even rumored to be called up to the WWE main roster, although she was actually on hiatus.
Roxanne Perez responds to injured WWE star's post
It seems like Roxanne Perez is not afraid of Cora Jade's eventual return. The Prodigy responded to her former tag team partner's post and "dared" the 23-year-old to return to the squared circle.
"I dare you," Perez commented.
Following her successful defense against Lola Vice, Roxanne Perez is certainly looking for a new challenger. Perez has held the NXT Women's Championship since NXT Stand & Deliver 2024, where she defeated Lyra Valkyria.
There's still no scheduled NXT Premium Live Event for WWE SummerSlam weekend, although The Great American Bash has been announced for August 6. It will be televised on SyFy.
In addition to Vice, Perez has defended her championship against Natalya, Chelsea Green, and Jordynne Grace. She also defeated Lyra Valkyria and Tatum Paxley in a Triple Threat Match at Spring Breakin' 2024.
