Is Cody Rhodes vs. CM Punk in the cards for WrestleMania 41? WWE name weighs in

Cody Rhodes has Kevin Owens to worry about as the Undisputed WWE Championship will be on the line at Saturday Night's Main Event, which is less than two weeks away. However, WrestleMania 41 is not too far off either.

Curiously, at Survivor Series: WarGames, The American Nightmare sat on the bench. Meanwhile, at the premium live event this past Saturday, CM Punk and Roman Reigns headlined the show. They emerged victorious over the team consisting of the new Bloodline and Bronson Reed. And now WWE analyst Sam Roberts has weighed in on the situation.

On Notsam Wrestling, Roberts noted that Punk and Reigns shaking hands may not have sat well with a lot of people, including Rhodes, whose life was made a living hell by the OTC in the past two years.

"But history between Cody and CM Punk is complicated. Does Cody Rhodes feel a certain kind of way about CM Punk shaking hands with Roman Reigns?" he wondered. [From 9:15 to 9:28]

Cody Rhodes made an appearance on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon a few days back, where he promoted his upcoming title defense against Kevin Owens while touching upon a bevy of topics. It appears WWE is hyping up Saturday Night's Main Event returning after nearly two decades.

Cody Rhodes teases unprecedented scenario for WrestleMania 41

The most obvious scenarios for WrestleMania 41 involves a main event featuring Cody Rhodes, Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, and Roman Reigns. However, if Johnson's schedule does not allow for a return in time, perhaps WWE may be forced to take a different route.

In an interview with YouTuber Adrian Hernandez recently, The American Nightmare assured that whether Dwayne Johnson gets added to the match card or not, he is heavily involved in the spectacle. Furthermore, the champion claimed that WrestleMania 41 will not be how fans are speculating right now and that something unprecedented could occur.

"So whether [The Rock is] in the ring or not, he is very much still involved with what happens at [WrestleMania] 41. I know when he comes back, I know who he’ll come looking for, and I know what to expect. But what I can say about WrestleMania 41 is: keep the rumors going, keep them churning, enjoy the discourse, but I think what you will get will surprise you all," said Rhodes.

As of this writing, perhaps the big question is, is Kevin Owens going to manage the unfathomable, that is to dethrone The American Nightmare at Saturday Night's Main Event? We will find out come December 14.
