Is Gunther a better World Champion than Cody Rhodes? Ex-WWE host weighs in!
Former WWE host Matt Camp recently made a bold statement, comparing Gunther and Cody Rhodes. He declared one of them a superior World Champion, providing a compelling explanation for his choice.
Gunther captured the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam 2024 and holds the title on RAW. Meanwhile, Rhodes became the Undisputed WWE Champion at WrestleMania XL and is holding the title on SmackDown.
Following The Ring General's successful title defense against Sami Zayn on the latest episode of the red brand's show, Matt Camp made a shocking statement. On his The Wrestling Matt podcast, the former WWE host claimed that Gunther is more effective as a World Champion than Cody Rhodes in terms of presentation. While The American Nightmare is the face of the company, Camp noted that The Ring General's heel role is more impactful.
"I might already call Gunther a better World Champion than Cody Rhodes. I'm really just saying that in terms of presentation. I'm well aware that I can make that statement and also know that Cody Rhodes is the face of the company and Gunther will never be that guy. He's a heel World Champion, and that's fine," he said.
After comparing the two stars' attributes, ring work, and opponents, Matt Camp said he preferred Gunther's World Championship reign, adding:
"I think the presentation, if you're just looking at the attributes, the ring work, the opponents, of how you present two first-time World Champions, I came away from last night's RAW wondering to myself, 'do I like Gunther as a World Champion more than Cody?'" [From 04:51 to 05:49]

At the WWE Bad Blood Premium Live Event, Triple H addressed the crowd, unveiling a brand new championship belt: the Crown Jewel Championship. The Game announced that all world champions from RAW and SmackDown, both male and female, would compete for this prestigious title at the upcoming Crown Jewel event in Saudi Arabia.
As mentioned earlier, The Ring General successfully retained his World Heavyweight Championship on the October 7, 2024, episode of RAW. Following his win, The American Nightmare confronted him before the show went off the air.
Cody Rhodes will face Gunther for the men's Crown Jewel Championship. On the other hand, Liv Morgan will go head-to-head with Nia Jax for the women's Crown Jewel Title on November 2, 2024.
